Dispatch: Onward!
Our goal? A much-needed trifecta.
Primary season is over (thank goodness), and the primary candidates in the race to the governorship have graciously and emphatically endorsed David Crowley.
The primary season was undeniably messy, but so is life.
Worth Fighting For Wisconsin thanks everyone who gave their blood, sweat and tears (and money) to the candidates of their choice up and down the ballot.
We now begin the last leg of the 2026 election cycle. Our work is far from over; we cannot rest until November 4th. Our goal? A trifecta: control of the State Senate, the State Assembly, and the Governor’s office. Plus, of course, Congressional races.
Governor
As Dan Shafer (The Discombobulation Area) said about the November Governor’s race, “This is Wisconsin. It’s always close.” So we turn our attention to helping David Crowley become one-third of our trifecta.
That’s what Francesca Hong (and others) have done. Recognizing that Tom Tiffany must be defeated, Hong has thrown her full support behind David Crowley (https://www.wpr.org/news/wisconsin-democrats-preach-unity-hong-endorses-crowley), and joined him on the campaign trail. (https://www.jsonline.com/story/news/politics/elections/2026/08/17/francesca-hong-joins-david-crowley-on-stump-after-bruising-primary/91335176007/.)
Why? Our good friend William Walter (Our Wisconsin Revolution) says it well:
The Executive Team
Sarah Godlewski is David Crowley’s running mate. Sarah is a bundle of energy, and they make a very dynamic duo. If you don’t know them yet, take the time to get to know them.
David Crowley, Governor
Sarah Godlewski, Lieutenant Governor
Also on the ticket are others you need to know:
Josh Kaul, Attorney General (incumbent)
Yee Ling Xiong, Treasurer
JoCasta Zamarripa, Secretary of State
State Assemble and Senate
The governor’s race got a lot of attention, but the race to November 3rd is about way more than the executive branch. There are 99 state assembly races and 17 state senate races. Each of us plays a critical part in our assembly districts, and can play a critical part in senate districts as well. Our goal is a trifecta. We can and we must win Democratic majorities in the assembly and senate, as well as the governorship.
Trifecta Magic
Legislators write their values into law, and governors sign them into law. (Ben Wikler, This is the Plan). Both the Assembly and the Senate can flip to blue on November 3rd, and if they do, and we can elect David Crowley, trifecta magic can happen. Rather than fight a MAGA legislature, the three corners of the trifecta can charge forward for the good of our state and the people who live here.
It Can Be Done — If We Do It
We say this often: America is worth fighting for. Democracy is worth fighting for. We are worth fighting for. Wisconsin is worth fighting for.
A better future is within our reach, if we fight for it.
A TRIFECTA IS WORTH FIGHTING FOR!
So find a way to get involved - whether it’s canvassing, phone banking, attending fundraisers, and importantly, talking to your family, friends and neighbors about the stakes of this election. If you’re looking for a place to volunteer, a good place to start is Mobilize. If you are already involved, do more … if you are able. We can pause, rest, and reflect … on November 4th.
September Meeting
Our next meeting (virtual) is Sept. 14th at 7 pm and we want you there. Register at bit.ly/WFFWiMonthly.
Three Corners
Our trifecta has three corners. Three corners it does have. And had it not three corners, it would not be a trifecta. Think about that as you watch today’s musical offering, a very clever and well done version of a simple nursery rhyme. Why do we seek a trifecta? For ourselves, our democracy, our state, and our country. And for future generations, including kids like these. Kids are definitely worth fighting for.
What will YOU do in this fight? We have only 77 days left, please decide soon….
